Lucile Haefflinger was born in the north of France. They grew up with their hands in the dirt and the leaves, caring for the smallest specks on the floor. Lucile later studied Textile and Text at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, graduating in 2019. During these years they developed their knowledge about materials : wood, glass, clay and the warmth of fibres. Drawing being at the root of their practice, Lucile took part in the post-graduate drawing year at the Royal Drawing School in London during 2019-21. Lucile is now based in Woolwich where they paint and sculpt from memories and observation. They feel an urge to contain escaping memories and feelings. They express the alienation of experiencing their own body in relation to their surroundings and other non-human beings
